With records of African Pitta, Natrina trogon and African Broadbills to name a few, including a nesting pair of our national bird the African Fish Eagle, Mpande Wildlife Estate has become an important bird sanctuary for numerous rare and endangered bird species. The Estate hosts numerous mammal species including the majestic kudu, sable, lechwe and many of the smaller mammals and reptiles making the Estate a haven of bio-diversity. The Conservancy is to host the Mpande botanical gardens that has commenced construction in association with the Zambezi Botanical and Horticultural Research Institute.
